Most of you probably don't know what a bigfin squid is as the first sighting was only in september 1988 at 15,535ft deep and no bigfin isn't a typo that is how it is spelt.
Don't worry if you didn't known what they were as they are deep sea creature that are rarely seen by people but just cause they live dosen't mean they are confound to a small area as they are widely spread across the ocean floor with there different speices being found in most deep places although bigfin reef squid live higher at 0 to 100 meters deep (0 to 328ft) deep.
Bigfin squid can be 20-30ft in height, but bigfin reef squid are 1-13 inches.
These squid are apart of the celphalapod family unlike most squid they swim by flapping the fins .
The long tenticals come when they are adults they bend as if they have elbows, but these are all just adaptations as they are the deepest dwelling squid we(as of 2022)know of as they live at the ocean floor in places like the gulf of mexico, other places of america and austrilia (they are just some examples they live in other places too).
the fin on their head is called a mantle and on their elbow like tenticles they have microschopic suckers which could be used to catch prey just swiming around or draggin them along the ocean floor.
